Christmas is here! Which of course means a day full of festivities and NBA basketball. I would like to take the time to thank all of you that follow us here at Angle Fantasy Sports. We love what we do and we look forward to growing this community further. Happy Holidays to all! Now as we all celebrate with our families let’s discuss two family members in the basketball world.

Jalen Williams bulked up over the summer and got his weight up to 220lbs. J-Dub may have gotten too big due to OKC wanting him to play power forward so that Lu Dort and Josh Giddey can share the floor with Shai and Chet. It appears the weight gain may have made Williams a little too slow. J-Dub’s numbers fantasy wise are slightly behind where he was last year. The scoring is up, which can be attributed to him adding size, but his steals are down and that’s likely why his Yahoo average rank is down this year (76) compared to last year (60). So it is not necessarily shocking to learn OKC are in the market for a power forward. However, they specifically want one that can stretch the floor. I love the rumors of Lauri Markkanen going to OKC. Shooting isn’t the only reason OKC want Lauri, the size of Lauri is key to this too. It could allow J-dub to play the SF spot again at the expense of either Dort or Giddey. Considering how valuable Isaiah Joe is for OKC when he’s on the floor, the 3 point shooting of Lauri would be an insane boost to Shai and the Thunder. The Jazz are looking to pivot to an even deeper rebuild and OKC absolutely have a large volume of what Utah will want, which are many 1st round picks. OKC clearly value J-Dub as their third best asset behind Shai and Chet so I love to see their intentions behind the move, which is to make Jalen’s life easier.

This upcoming 2024 draft class is quite a perplexing one. There is no consensus number 1 pick and many analysts seem to be struggling on the tier breaks in the lottery range. This leads to very different looking mock drafts across the board. One thing I know is Cody Williams rules. Due to the uncertainty of this draft I have seen C-Dub projected as early as #1 and as late at #15. His older brother J-Dub seemed to go under everyone’s radar up until a day or two before the draft. Analysts will not make this same mistake twice, which means Cody has not gone under the radar. He came into Colorado as a 5-star recruit and has been a projected lottery pick since the preseason. Cody is three inches taller than Jalen and is listed at 190lbs. Cody will be making the NBA two years faster than his brother as well. If anything, Cody appears to be the true power forward between the two. In our analyst NCAA league I drafted Cody Williams and have very much enjoyed watching him this year. He and Tristan da Silva have the Buffaloes close to an AP top 25 ranking. In a draft full of question marks Cody Williams is looking like a safe bet.
