As I answer questions and give advice on the Angle discord server I have noticed two common questions that I would like to quickly address here:

Will the Spurs bench Victor Wembanyama to tank later this season NO! The Spurs are already awful with Wemby playing and taking him out really has no effect on them landing a top five pick as well as staying in the bottom three to get best odds for pick number one again. Wemby needs every opportunity to develop. Also, the 2024 draft class isn’t the best. The 6 win spurs have little to lose by playing him all year.

Should I trade Dejounte Murray before Atlanta trades him?   NO! Murray will not take a value hit by being traded. In fact, I would expect the opposite to happen. If Dejounte is no longer playing alongside Trae Young and instead gets to an organization desperate for a point guard such as the Spurs or the Lakers (only if they move DLo) that is an immediate value spike.

Bradley Beal’s dynasty value is starting to look cooked. As Angle prepares for a new dynasty rank update this weekend we all noticed Beal is barely still clinging to a top 100 spot in all 3 analysts’ rankings. This is a pretty big drop off for someone that was a first round pick in 12 team redraft leagues not too long ago. Beal looks more than a step slower than his usual self. Beal’s fantasy value the last two weeks has been in the 120 range/10th round range for redraft. Last season the rank of his average statistics was 72. There are a lot of younger upside plays out there I would rather have than Beal in dynasty who was recently occupying a top 70 spot on dynasty lists. Use caution when buying Beal as I am not sure if a bounce back is likely.

Now some news to cater to deep league dynasty players. Caleb Houstan is surging up the Magic depth chart due to some injuries and good performance. The Magic need three point shooting and the former 32nd pick in the 2022 draft can provide that. Over the last two weeks Houstan has made 2.4 three pointers per game good for 8.9 points per game. I am in no way telling you to grab Houstan in 12 team or even 14 team leagues. However, deep league dynasty managers, such as my beloved 30 team dynasty managers, should look to acquire Houstan for cheap while they still can. We have seen good value as a depth option come from shooters like Sam Hauser and Isaiah Joe. It could be worth the gamble to see if Houstan or his Magic teammate Jett Howard can reach that level of usefulness in redraft and dynasty.
